We traveled by van from marrakech back to the ship in casablanca today. Mr abdelmoula took good care of us. The trip was much more luxourious than the train despite the lack of air conditioning. We took a toll road more than 100 miles, it was in great condition and we were passed by some very nice cars. This has been an interesting journey. Street lights here are only suggestions, and apparently not very good ones. The restrooms are not female compliant. Mcdonalds pizza hut and kfc are some of the busiest and most popular esablishments. Any place that may have westerners has security guards that require you to ask permission to enter, even pizza hut. Everyone wants to be an american as they clearly imitate our culture, but unless you plan on paying 5 to 10 times the standard prices they will not like you. Asians are not welcome here, i can tell the people in the japanese “peace boat” were having a rough time. I could live here, there are some really really nice areas with lots of security guards. Other than fiats mercedes seem to be the popular car here. In spain there were lots of audis. Military bases and car dealerships seem to be the most fortified areas around here. We stayed two nights at a french resort, they played lion king music and michael jackson. Everyone wants to be american. I wish i had my flip cam last night. We took two taxis to the outskirts of marrakech and got lost in what appeared to be a refugee camp. Our driver crashed into a wall. He kept asking my questions in french even though i told him i only speak english. People build shacks next to abandoned buildings, ditches, and against almost every wall. I caught a cold here, but i hear the area is very aromatic. Today i didnt eat until dinner on the ship at 5:30, but i sure cant wait for this immodium to kick in. Everyone wants to be american, and the mint tea is delicious.
