Foreign Flavors

Morrocan M&M’s are not as good as Chinese ones, they lack in appearance and aren’t even all the same size. Chinese M&M’s don’t have the quality of chocolate that we’re used to in the US. South African Coca-Colas not the same as UAE cokes, they are alot less sweet. Both of these are in no way like Coca-Cola in the United States. I never thought I would miss corn syrup. South African Kit-Kat bars are absolutely delicious, best Kit-Kats ever! Spanish chorizo is not the same as the chorizo I’m used to…. it is amazing! So far pizza has been interesting, other than an amazing experience in Sevilla. Fruit on the ship is gross, I had to peel a nectarine last night. We found cattleman’s barbecue sauce in South Africa, Clay and I had barbecue chicken sandwiches for dinner last night.

Shipboard life

Yesterday clay and sean cut eachothers hair. Tomorrow i plan on getting my haircut with jovi in the salon. The boat is going fast and the ship is rocking. Looks like we’re going through another storm.

Lions, tigers, and bears.

We just finished our “safari”, it was actually at a private game reserve. We saw rhinos, hippos, water buffalo, more ostrich, a giraffe, and elephants! The only lions we saw were in a pen though, next to the crocodiles, cheetah, and leopard. We had the greatest breakfast since home. It was soooooo delicious. The eggs were real! The orange juice was fresh! And the pastries were delicious.

South africa is awesome. Generally I feel safe. Our tour guide for the day is very nice, he told us about a fancy steakhouse we should go to. He also said patron is very popular here, except not the patron we’re used to. They don’t have patron silver, coffee patron is the most popular. Which kinda explains why that tequilla milkshake was a coffee patron shake.

Hopefully I can post more pictures soon, but first I’m going to find a computer store and see if I can get some lithium batteries for my gps tracker.

Oh my god!

we just went great white shark diving. It was amazing. Clay said it was the greatest thing he has done in his life. The boat operator told us he knew we were americans because we all saw “holy sh!+” and “oh my god!”. I bought the dvd and also have tons of videos from an underwater flip camera. Zach has amazing pictures as well, ill post as soon as I can. We saw 6 sharks and the weather was perfect. Whitey’s buffet was just great.

Shark diving was postponed til tomorrow. Cliff jumping can’t be refunded, but I want to see sharks more. We just ate at the royale eatery, I just had a ostrich burger and tasted a patron and coffee milkshake. The peanut butter and banana shake was better though. Today we’ve hired the shark dive van driver to take us around the cape.

South africa is well fortified, lots of electric fences. In our diplomatic briefing we were told not to trust the black people, the colored people, and lots of the white people. Everyone seems very nice though. I could live in cape town, but anywhere else would be a struggle.

This country has the nicest cars by far, they have tons of mercedes, audi’s (saw a convertible r8) and we’re docked next to an aston martin dealership.

The coca-cola here is not as delicious as in ghana. It’s interesting that coke tastes different everywhere. It doesn’t taste anything like in the US, they use sugar instead of corn syrup so it doesn’t taste as sweet.

One day I will write about ghana. It was soooooo much fun.

Neptune Day

Today I started to write one of my papers… I have 2 due tomorrow. I also studied for my test tonight. Everyone else got their heads shaved and had fish guts thrown on them. There are hamburgers and ribs for dinner, today is the best day ever. It is the best of times… it is the worst of times.
